A very full day in the life of a nanny - hi there...

Mar. 11th, 2016 08:20 pm A very full day in the life of a nanny

I wrote it on my hand today so i wouldn't forget!!! It...mostly worked.

Good morning ditl-folk! I am, strangely for a weekday, at my parents' house. There is a ladder in my room because they recently had painters in, and they had to repaint my ceiling because of some water damage from like 7 years ago. Good thing I didn't want to take a shower, cuz mom's asparagus fern is hogging it! Had to move it for the painters, and she's wanting to re-pot it anyways. I wash up and pack up.

Good morning, parental units! As we get ready for breakfast, we notice some cute visitors in the woods out back :) saw a total of three before they ran away!

Oatmeal with pb, as per usual. Then i'm off! The reason I was home overnight is because I had an orthodontist appointment, and it's 30 minutes from my parents vs almost 2 hours from my place.

So thrilled. Getting impressions made for two different appliances, day and night, that will hopefully fix my TMJ. I am cautiously optimistic. the caulking-gun thing was used to squirt goop in between my teeth to measure my...i don't remember what she called it. the distance between your teeth when you talk. Anyways.

Fast forward to fiiiinally getting to work. I had to plug my phone in when i got there, so i did forget to take pics for a little while. I remembered after boss-dad left and i got my first cup of tea in my pretty mug they gave me for xmas. I also had lunch. I can't sneak away from baby now, she is crawling like crazy! i put her down in the other room and within two minutes, here she comes!

I give her a raw carrot to chomp on (with one tooth, it's not really a danger), then give her a bottle.

Sleepytime for baby. I attempt steaming the rest of the carrot, but ended up having to boil it cuz it was taking foreeeever.

it is a GLORIOUS day. In between checking on the carrots, i sit on the deck and read. This is my *OMG I AM OUTSIDE IN SHORT SLEEVES!!!!* face.

Have to wake the kiddo to go get Big Girl from school. She loves this car that I accidentally stole from H (former nanny-bebe) when i moved! When we get to school it is eighty degrees. EIGHTY. IN MARCH. IN MASSACHUSETTS. EEEEEEEEE.

Big Girl and her bff play for over an hour, while bebe hangs out on my back.

One of my favorite things about Big Girl's school is that I can see my alma mater (UMass Amherst) in the distance!  I decide to swing while wearing baby, it is fun but feels a litttttle precarious.

Play around with shadows :) Then right before we go home i let baby have some dirt time. toesies!

Back at home, baby gets a bottle (legs in constant motion, always!) then we go outside to do some chalk (BG and me) and destroy dead leaves (baby).

Mom gets home and has to park on the grass because dad's truck and racecar trailer are taking up so much driveway. We chat and realize i forgot about baby's 3rd nap (which i never do! but i was so distracted by the weather!), so mom plops her in the crib and I head home. Still warm as heck!

Though it pains me to work out inside when it's nice out, I make myself go to the gym. Luckily I had a good book to read so it didn't feel TOO awful. Normally I do 3 miles, but my leg's been wonky so I don't wanna push too much. Plus, it's late.

Quick stop for gas, then home!

Kick off my shoes and then go into the kitchen to admire my new shelf and try and decide on dinner.

Can't decide, so I shower first. STILL can't decide, so I go to one of my fallbacks, grits! weird, but i love 'em. I also ended up having a banana-pb-nutella wrap later, while watching tv.

Bf gets home and is unamused by my picture taking. He works until 10 now, and doesn't get home until 10:30 most nights :( We have to chat while he eats dinner and I get washed up, and then I go to bed at 11. Sucks but hopefully it's temporary!

'Night ditl!

Ah, the towers of Southwest. That's what Leonard always used to say when we came back to UMass after being gone for the weekend.

Gah I miss that place. Maybe next year I'll make it up there. I have a plan for Keith and I to fly to NY, then mini road trip to Amherst with Laura and Colin. I don't think I've actually shared this idea with Laura yet, but I'm pretty sure she'll approve it.

Love this! For a picky eater you eat some things that are weird to me. Then again, I'm ALSO a picky eater ... Just with different things, I guess! Lol.

PS: your car seat game is on point. Like 90% of nanny pictures I see are baaaaad buckling so I always appreciate yours.

Haha what's weird, the oatmeal and pb or the grits?

I'm super anal about car seat safety. I don't want to take any chances, especially with someone else's kid!
